ear training
solfege, intervals, and hearing before you sing.
hear it before you sing it
the voice only reproduces what the ear already knows. a singer with a good ear can sight-read, hold pitch in a choir, and steal a harmony on the spot — and it's all trainable, in ten minutes a day.
a daily ear drill, in solfège: do–re–mi → sing, then identify do–mi–so → major triad, ascending la–fa–re → descending, minor flavor so–do → the perfect fifth, always stable
intervals to own
- perfect fifth (twinkle, first leap) — the anchor.
- major third (do–mi) — the brightness.
- minor second (ti–do) — the tension that resolves.
- octave — your home, an octave up.
